Damage assesment

So finaly the engine is taken out & ripped apart.

Ohhhhhh.....Ahhhhhhh.....

Off comes the head!

What do I have to do? Oh, the oil pan. Hmmm. Do we really want to see that?

Ok. This is what it looks like. Removing the loose bits :-(
Arghhhhh!

The damaged goods.

And the powerplant comes loose.

And so the engine is now ready to be taken out.

It also becomes more apparent what seems to be the problem: a big hole in the oil pan.
You can't see it? Your not looking propperly!

Not really fun.
But it is fun.
It can only get better from here.

So we loosed the cabling still on the engine, then removed the engine supports. And also the water tank under the Van came off. It was a "dirty" water tank, as this was is a camper.

I realize how badly managed the deassembly is. Myself to blame.
It's going to be intresting putting it all toghether.

On & on part 2

As I am no good at blogging & working the web interface & I want to include lots of pics with comments, I'm splicing it up. Bear with me.

Ok to the left you have a front view of the Van. Just turn your head 90 degrees to the left and you'll see it!

Below a top view of the engine from inside.

With many kudos to EJ, BM & last but certainly not least MM.

Without his "schuur" it would simply not be possible.

Before the water pump & all pulleys got removed.....

Over and out for now. More exciting news to follow!

On & on part 1

The demolishing continues!!!!

Yesterday evening we had more fun. Off came the carb, airco pump, generator, exhaust pipe, power steering pump, the LP gas stuff, lots & lots of cabling and more odds and ends.

A nice detail of the sophisticated electrical engineering applied in my Van. It is clear only the best engineers were applied, usually during their coffee break by the look of it. ;-P

Below MM ripping off something or other off the top of the small block.

Even further below, the way to heavy & big airco pump is taken out. Notice the delicate blue clothing BM wears, latest fashion from Hoorn.

Here we go!

So yesterday deassembly started. The grille came off, the headlights, all liquids, and the transmision shaft (both pieces). Some pictures:

So the Van, or rather the engine, went
"SSSSPPPFFFFFFFFFFFF, rakadakkadak, TAKTAKTAKTAKTAKTAKTAK".
And when the ANWB dude came, he called the towing service almost imedeatly.

So much for my van sleeping couch trip to Vans'n'Vettes in Udenhout with my ex-wife.
